153 ABSTRACT This doctoral dissertation conducted research on religious education and social change in Christian communication using the example of transnational and multi-faith countries, in particular Kazakhstan. The work used basic principles and methods to present the historical and cultural state of contemporary Kazakhstan and its religious sphere of life. The relevance of the problem is connected primarily with the historical and social changes that occurred after the collapse of the Soviet Union, when the Republic of Kazakhstan achieved independence and assumed the role of a democratic and secular state. In this context, it is important to pay attention to the role of Christian religion in these changes. Every state faces problems that require active participation in solving them. In Kazakhstan, an important issue is the regulation of religious organisations. One of the key points is the importance of religious education in the formation of new social relations and the maintenance of democratic values. New forms of Christian communication are emerging and are being adapted to modern society. However, it should be taken into account that in the religious sphere there are also problems related to the rejection by some groups of society of certain religious beliefs, as well as problems of extremism and...
Social theater as a path to active citizenship
Boučková, Markéta ; Moree, Dana (advisor) ; Šťovíčková Jantulová, Magdaléna (referee)
The thesis aims to study how civic actors of the theatre of the oppressed and playback theatre actively seek social change. It also examines how these methods differ and what their mechanisms are. The research sample includes 5 actors of theatre of the oppressed and 5 actors of playback theatre. Semi-structured interviews were used as the research method, using open coding as the analysis method. The main finding is that Theatre of the Oppressed functions primarily through the actors' awareness of their own oppression and their search for solutions to social problems through interactions with the audience. Playback theatre also draws primarily on audience interactions, but these are predominantly based on emotional connection and active listening. The difference in methods, then, is that theatre of the oppressed provides actors with reflection on their own experiences and validation from other members of the group; the audience's reactions to the performance and search for a common solution subsequently reinforce efforts for social change. In the case of playback theatre, it is all about understanding the emotions of others and using this connection to create a safe space that allows for community bonding and understanding of differing viewpoints. Key words: Social Theatre, Theatre of the...
Initiative Food Not Bombs in Relation to Homeless People
ČESKÁ, Jana
This bachelor's thesis is focused on the initiative Food Not Bombs and its relation to homeless people. The aim of the work was to describe the inner workings of the Food Not Bombs initiative in the Czech Republic and to reflect on the activists in contact with homeless people. Food Not Bombs is a global initiative highlighting inequalities in society through free food distribution. The theoretical part defines the basic concepts related to homelessness, including social services, approaches to social work with this demographic and the current state of affairs. Furthermore, the history of the initiative Food Not Bombs, its operational principles and follow-up activities are presented. The empirical part of the work contains research using the qualitative research strategy and questioning method. Data collection was performed using a semi-structured interviews. The research group consists of eleven informants from the eight cities in the Czech Republic in which the groups operate. The obtained data was converted into text form and subsequently analyzed using open coding and categorization. Based on this analysis, research questions were answered. They aimed to identify differences in the activities of individual teams and how activists perceive homeless people. Several differences were identified between groups from different cities. However, these were not fundamental differences and it can be concluded that the groups agree more than not. Activists perceive the homeless as excluded from society and suffering from material deprivation, often due to the unfair distribution of resources. They endeavor to perceive homelessness as a problem without blaming individual people for it. The groups are characterized by giving equal access to the hungry and striving to help and support everyone without distinction. The work may serve to raise awareness of the initiative's activities and contribute to changing the passive or negative public attitude towards the homeless.

Sport and Czech Society: Sources of Differences in Sports Participation
Špaček, Ondřej ; Numerato, Dino (advisor) ; Sekot, Aleš (referee) ; Leška, Dušan (referee)
The thesis examines changes in sports participation in Czech society in last decades. Sports activities are conceptualized as a practice, routinized habit that is shared in a society's culture (Reckwitz 2002; Warde 2005). Bourdieu's (1984) also shows how different social positions generate different taste and preferences, which are simultaneously classified and base for symbolic borders between social classes. The empirical analysis focuses on sports participation during the last three decades and deeper understanding of differentiation and meanings of today's sports activity. The results clearly show profound increase in sports participation, from 25 % in 1984 to 67 % in 2009. The cohort analysis confirms that dynamics of sports practices' spread have roots in the socialization process and cohort exchange, because younger cohorts have a stable higher level of sports participation irrespective of their aging. Lasting impact of cultural capital on sports participation is particularly striking, especially in the light of the major change in society's regime in the 1989 and after. This brings attention to the question, how mechanisms of social inequalities - especially cultural capital - worked in a similar way across supposedly different social orders. Next chapter deals with patterns of participation in...
